Routing sugestions

OK, I've got a slight dilemma, well actually a few ways to do something...and looking for any advice/experience...

I have a drum kit, each drum is routed through its own bus....so the articulations can be managed thru the same set of FX.... I also have some sends (3) from each bus...all normal so far...now I want to add a bus-comp FX to the master fader, whats your preferred way to do this (insert FX? another send?)

Just interested in how you all get that sort of thing done...

No dilemma really... if I understand what you are doing.

When you refer to the master fader do you mean the 2-mix or the drum master?

In either case, I prefer to have my buss compressors run in parallel with the mix they are compressing. This lets me add back just a little bit of the uncompressed audio.

Modern compressor plug-ins are pretty flexible, so this parallel approach is not as necessary as it once was. Often times I'll find that I never did add any of the uncompressed mix. BUT, when I need just a little more punch it's an easy way to get it. And inside the box it does not seem to add any penalty.
