Review: VSL Fazioli F212 (Playability Test + Dead Zone Workaround)

Here's a quick playability demo of the VSL Fazioli F212.

Thanks to the folks at VI Control (especially @horowitz), the "dead zone" has more life now. Unfortunately for my wallet, I love this thing...



TL;DW: It's extremely playable, sounds amazing, pedaling is decent for a sample lib, needs a little tweaking on a few notes.

The F212 is a insider tip, but a tweak? Is`nt it more a part of the dialect of this piano? eg. I used a mixchain: UA Capitol Mastering Compressor, Hitsville EQ Mastering, TC MD4 and the TC Brickwall HD limiter and it sounds okay. I do not miss overtones or something. The full version makes sense, but it`s very cpu hungry with all channels.

@JonL showed a spectrum visualization (link) of the Eb compared to the E in the 2nd octave, and it looks and sounds (at least to my ear) as though some overtones are missing in the E, as well as the other notes highlighted at the bottom of the video thumbnail. I'm no piano technician and it's possible this piano was intentionally voiced this way, but those notes feel different to me than their surroundings.

With the fixes though, I have no complaints and am really enjoying this library overall.
