The free ones were earlier test recordings, from the alpha stage of the project. So in typical Jasper Blunk fashion I fully expect these to be entirely new recordings. However, in terms of what to expect with regard to an overall aesthetic, room sound, etc. the free instruments are likely a good proxy.Does the forthcoming solo strings library include all new samples or is is it mainly additional articulations for the free legato violin and cello libraries?
Articulations, according to the website:Does the forthcoming solo strings library include all new samples or is is it mainly additional articulations for the free legato violin and cello libraries?
Interesting the solos have staccato! I wonder if the shorts behave differently than in the ensemble versionArticulations, according to the website:
“Content (not yet finalized): legato, motion tremolos, spiccatos, staccatos, pizzicatos, marcatos, and harmonics”

I just hope the sound can be as dry as possible for that kind of flexibility. At the moment, everything seems rather roomy. I actually like PS' Solo Violin Legato freebie patch. That kind of drier tone and it has that nice raw sound (not as thin sounding as most solo violin libraries out in the market) and great legato too.100% new recordings.
Also, just a note that the cello has slur legato and the violin has slur, bowchange, and port.
Well, the Pacific room is a fairly large space (though also quite controlled) and that's kind of the point of that space. I happen to adore it, personally, as it envelopes the instruments but doesn't drench them either. That said, Jasper mentioned that the Pacific solo strings will have close mics AND section mics along with the more distant room mics.I just hope the sound can be as dry as possible for that kind of flexibility. Worth mentioning that this solo violin freebie was actually recorded in a fairly ambient (though different) room but Jasper used the close mic for that library.I actually like PS' Solo Violin Legato freebie patch.
