Just got SSO 2024, quite impressed with the Blaney performance patches and the sound of the strings. Like this a lot more than BBCSO Pro. Very agile, too bad the support for pedal sustain is not there by default (using multiscript from Blake Robinson as a solution).

I would advise against it. I have two of these sitting on a shelf. Power draw is huge, compared to M1 (or higher) and Mx series runs circles around the trashcan in terms of performance. A waste of money, IMO.

In the comments Jasper mentions a timeframe of December 2023 - late 2024, if I am not mistaken. So I don't think it's coming anytime soon.

How are the attacks of the lower dynamics in those Vista 2 patches? I've always considered the attacks in Vista and Pacific a bit too strong. Especially since Jasper dropped the option of two different attack types. What's the lowest dynamic for the legatos recorded, pp?

While I still don't quite prefer how the slurred legato and normal is divided into two patches, I actually quite like the overall product here after playing an hour or so with the full demo. Sustains and legato flow much much better than SSP. Good idea making this demo available.

Yeah, this library is a real gem IMO. I've been enjoying playing with it.

On my M1 Max machine with 64GB it pops and crackles already with a low voice count of around 75-300. 256 buffer, which I had always set to 128. This is the first time I had to put the buffer higher.

Yep, seeing performance issues with the these shorts too, doesn't take many notes to make things to pop and crackle even with only 2 mics. Which is strange since even with a buffer of 128 I have no such issues with similar patches from Pacific! Setting the buffer at 256 helps only a little...

Playability comes close enough for me IMO. Dolce 1st and 2nd violins are a good substitute for missing Pacific 2nd vlns.

Here's another quick example, 2nd violins only, Close + AB mic and one close mic again. Edit: Added 1st vlns too. All these were done in just one quick pass live, no corrections.

Hmm, well in my opinion most of the legato is 'fine', other than a few wonky notes here and there which I hope will be fixed. The YT legato walkthrough though is not particularly good. Here's a quick legato doodle from me.

The hot fix does not seem to address the issue related to holding the sus pedal and legato note repetitions. When you repeat a note, every next note after has no transitions playing.

Here's a quick test turning the whisper sustains for vlns, violas and cellos into actual legato patches. I used the first four layers of what little sample material there is to work with.

I was thinking more along the lines of a single integrated patch, by copying the relevant NSS groups or zones into Pacific. However, since the script is locked I have no idea if it is possible to add a secondary script and how that interacts with the locked one. I'm not a scripting expert...

Figured that might work, had the same idea but not gotten around to trying it yet. Which mics from NSS in particular did you use? One would really want to be able to switch from slurred to bow change on the fly, not sure if that can be additionally scripted.

Hmm, perhaps I'm wrong, but when I load up your midi in my v1.7 it doesn't sound as blurry as in your example. Alex has promised to fix the lower dynamics for vlns2, he removed the p layer and he will put it back in again.

Totally agree on this. Vlns2 have changed though, at (very) low CC1 values the p layer is gone.

Haven't installed Sine yet on my M1 Max. I'm not a fan of the player. According to the OT website it should work fine under Rosetta, but that's no substitute for a native version.

For a quick comparison and reference, Studio One sits around 13% with five instances of CSS (voice count around 40-50) playing a simple rhythmic pattern. This is with plenty going on in terms of other apps in the background too. I also have Logic installed, and IMO there are some issues with it...

It just hangs on verifying the plugin at the Logic title screen. VSR S24 from Rehab, also an iLok plugin, does work however. Still need to do more testing. Also running tests now with Studio One. No Spotlight activity, I've had this laptop running since Thursday.

Did some more testing, this time with Rosetta. Does seem to improve performance and eliminate some of the hiccups and issues I mentioned before. Will need to do more testing. I however still cannot get 7thH to run at all, not sure what I am doing wrong.

Really? Well let me say this. The slow legato sounds generally fine though I am liking the 'bowed legato' a bit less in the example played. And I am also not a fan of creating faster legatos by merely shortening the existing legato transitions, rather than recording and using actual faster ones.

I caved, ordered the 14" Max version with 64GB and a 2TB drive. Delivery still three to four weeks away so should the reviews disappoint I could always cancel. Bit disappointing to read the 16" has a high performance option.

What the heck are you you running on? There's no 'high' CPU usage, and I'm running on an 'old' 2013 Mac Pro.

A quick inspection of the editor reveals that the loops are generally around 4s long.

The shorts sound really great, and the sordino sustains are just awesome. However, the releases on the sordino patch are louder than the sustains and stand out. Anyone else experiencing this? Edit: NM, updating Kontakt fixed it.
