Very nice. (someone get that man a better keyboard stand!)

The sound is so warm. I have to get this. I only wish to he!! it had more velocity layers.

It doesn't sound sort of pre-eq'd and pop-ish to you? It did a little to me. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just-I didn't hear it as being so warm.

I think its sounding pretty versatile. I wont know until I get my hands on it. What I really liked was the bass and the power of the sound.

Listen to the Rim/Side position mics - the mid range is like a rock.

Yep.

Back in the day, Yamaha was the name if you couldn't afford a Steinway, and I bought a very nice C3- but when I was looking around, I played a 6 foot Kawai I actually liked better. I just couldn't quite get over the name recognition factor and resale value.

I reaaaaallly like the sound of this - hands down one of the best piano samples I have ever heard - they hit something golden in terms of capturing the sound of resonance - even on single mic position. Very impressive.

Lol Larry - you sound like me. I was always afraid to admit how much I liked the sound of a good 6 foot Kawai vs some other more 'prestigious' pianos I played. I really have a soft spot for them.

hehe... I also like the sound of some Kawai's but the action is the greatest fault of those pianos

Kawai, Young Chang, Yamaha, Blüthner all have great sounding pianos IMO - comparable to their price range.

The builders also have different philosophies in terms how they showcase the pianos and tune them - in this case tuning refers to tuning of action and hammers.

One thing is for sure ... the newer models tends to sound better IMO ... simply cause the technology/understanding of resonance and strings has grown tremendously over the last couple of decades.

Mmm I've always found the Kurzweil K2500s to be sexy.

The reasonable price doesn't exactly detract from the value of this deal.

Great to hear that someone has done a Kawai sample. Got to check that out.

I've really liked Kawai pianos from way back. They are well known for the warm round tone. My dad was a jazz pianist and piano tech and I grew up playing a Kawai in our house. I now have a 6'1 RX-3 grand (about 4 years old) and it's great sounding and plays well.

Usually, I find that people who have had experience with the upper end Kawai's have nothing but great things to say about them. It's one of those pianos, that if you like that kind of tone, it's hard to beat - specially when compared to comparable priced grands.

That's one of the things I like best about my Kawai - the resonance.

It sounds great! My dad has a 6ft Kawai grand and I love the sound of it. IT's so expressive to play.

I might bite at this down stream.

Well done AcousticsampleS!

Post subject:  Re: Kawai piano for Kontakt

Hey guys,

Just finished downloading it. I'm really enjoying this piano. My one criticism is that the PPP layer is not quiet enough for me. No matter how gently I play, it is clearly too high a 'velocity'. That extra 'PPP' layer might have made it my 'go to' piano for many occasions, but sadly this one small issue means it is not as 'perfect 'as it could have been.

I look at it as a great complement to a beautifully-quiet piano like Hans' Malmsjo. Different colours for different occasions.

Nice one Piet! Ned, I agree of course, as I have far too many piano libraries, but that gentle layer really would have been the icing on an already very tasty cake!

Post subject:  Re: Kawai piano for Kontakt

That's a nice sounding Piano and priced correctly.
I would pay twice the amount for a few more ppp layers, 3 times the amount for a sostenuto pedal version.
It is a perfect rock, smooth Jazz and suburban Blues Piano as is.
Their Cajon is excellent too BTW.
I am still waiting for Alicia Keys w/ the sostenuto.
I pray it's not like the Garritan " Authorized ( Outsourced ) Steinway.
I don't even know if they ever implemented the advertised, non existant sos pedal, nor do I care anymore.
But the Kawaii would be an excellent Piano to upgrade after the fact.
Who knows, maybe these guys have released this for the right price and won over a larger less critical audience, and have an upgrade ready in the wings and waiting, That would be nice, because if any Piano other than the marvellous sounding Alicia/Scarbee project has caught caught my ears, this one has.
Nice find,..Thanks.

There's also that strange filter coming up in Kontakt 4 (Is it like Voxengo Curve EQ, EQ matching filter or something more?) Anyway, it will be interesting to hear how matching various pianos to each other would sound.

For example could you make....

Malmsjo + AcousticsampleS = AcoustimsjO hehe Razz

"whatchoo think?" read the initial post.

Well I think that it's an absolutely beautiful piano....and not only that....because there are so, very, many out there they have priced it at a point which makes it extremely attractive.

Companies like this, who market beautiful solo VIs at sensible prices are the future IMHO. Lyrical Distortion is another example of a great company offering opportunities at irresistable prices. Smile

Yes, you're right....what do I know?........

You know what everyone should know-what they believe and what they like.

Unfortunately, too many let others tell them what to think and what they should like.

In any case, I'm buying it. Do I need another piano library-? No.
It's a beautiful sounding thing, but really I'm buying it because when it comes to piano libraries, enough...

is never enough.
