Anyone else having issues with GVI and the new eLicenser software?

-----------------------------------

I just installed the new eLicenser software to replace the Syncrosoft software my dongles used to use.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Everything else <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>-<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> mainly VSL stuff <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>-<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> still works fine,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> but GVI refuses to load now.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> The license appears in the licenser software but GVI isn't communicating correctly with the new driver.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> The eLicenser website suggests contacting the manufacturer of the software,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> which of course could be a little tough given that Tascam has shut down its Gigastudio operations.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this problem,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> and if they have been able to find a way to get around it.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>

Funny,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> I just installed GVI on my Vista 64 machine today to use it with VE Pro and I have the exact same problem.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> But no solution yet.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.elicenser is really a PITA.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
And like you I'm not sure who to contact with this problem.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>

For some reason when I plugged my dongle into a USB port I hadn't used it in before,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> GVI started working again <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>-<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> until I restarted the computer.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Now I've done that trick as many times as I can,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> as I've had the dongle in all 8 ports.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> This is infuriating,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> especially given Steinberg's <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>"don't look at us"<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> attitude about problems with individual pieces of licensed software.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
I'm just crossing my fingers that someone who has successfully dealt with this issue might see this thread <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b><b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>

Well I use a hub because of the external power.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
USB ports have to often share IRQ's w/other peripherals and even just a USB powered keyboard controller can flucuate the signal strength.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
I have a stuffed iLok and Synrosoft dongle,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> but by years end I will no longer be needing Cubase,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Giga/GVI,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Sonalksiss,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Softube or Algorhytmix plugs.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
My DSP rack is overpowered and the plugs are on par with the 12-1600 top shelf VST FX so bye-bye to these PITA 29 cent pieces of shit.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
The idea of thousands of dollars of high tech kit being stuffed onto a Chinese peice of crap is unnacceptable.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Beside Cubase isn't needed as Reaper has bypassed it for my needs and although I shall sorely miss GS4/GVI,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> there's no sense feeding a dead horse.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
I will always love Giga though as I had a rack of samplers way back then and Giga/Scope DAW's were just a GodSend to me.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
But YamaBerg can sniff my Choney's.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> o=<<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>

It worked for me in W7x64.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> I just plugged the dongle in and it worked fine.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>

Yes,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> I had this problem,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> and I found a workaround:<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
The registry location GVI apps look in for the syncrosoft info <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>(specifically the list of plugged-in license dongles)<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> is:<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SynasUSB\Enum
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
As long as the older 32-bit syncrosoft driver is being used,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> that is where the info will be,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> but if the Syncrosoft driver is upgraded to eLicenser 64-bit version this location changes to:<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\synusb64\Enum
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
Of course GVI and other VI's that use GVI don't know that the location has changed.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> If you manually recreate the same registry values found in the new location in the location that GVI apps look for them,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> it will make the GVI apps work.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>

Chimuelo,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> you know you can transfer licenses between dongles?<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Put them all on one dongle.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Then take apart one of those PCI USB cards,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> the kind that goes in a PCI slot and has the raw cable headers on the other end.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Attach the headers to the motherboard,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> plug the dongle into the USB side,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> and use cable ties to attach it somewhere inside your PC case.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Now you don't have to worry about hubs,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> stolen or broken dongles.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>

New to the forum,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> but Hans Adamson sent me here for questions about using Malmsjo and GVI.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> All was well until I had to re-configure a new computer.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> When I went to install Malmsjo with GVI and the syncrosoft dongle,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> everything looked good except that Malmsjo GVI would not appear in Sonar 8.5.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> I tried the usual.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>.deleting all the plugin locations,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> then re-installing them.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> No go.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> Tried to open Malmsjo GVI as stand-alone,<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> and got <b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>"GVI hosting shell has encountered a problem and needs to close.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>"<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b> I opened LCC but nothing is obvious for a cure.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
Any help is greatly appreciated.<b style="color:#FFFFFF"></b>
